ABSTRACT
How and why sport and religion provide formative structures for youth and young adults within social contexts has been the subject of extensive research. Research shows that athletic identity can be influenced in a variety of manners, specifically through the behaviors of influencers. The intention of this research is to develop a Lasallian Athlete Profile of varsity collegiate student-athletes at a Midwest university by using the AIMS-Plus scale (Athlete Identity Measurement Scale) as it was modified by Cieslak (2004). This athletic profile provides useful context for understanding how the 12 Virtues of a Good Teacher impact the identity of athletes at a Lasallian university. This research analyzes if and to what degree variables such as gender and class rank affect the results from the AIMS-Plus scale. Additional opportunities for research are also addressed.

Mayo, Zakary, Alice Bettag, Jordan Modjeski, and Matthew Klosky
Zakary Mayo is an assistant professor of business at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. He earned a B.S. in sport administration from Castleton University and an MBA from the College of Saint Joseph, and he is a doctoral candidate at Troy University in the sport management program.
Alice Bettag is a 2019 graduate of Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. She was a double major and earned her B.A. in sport management and business intelligence and analytics.
Jordan Modjeski will be a 2022 graduate of Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. She is a sport management and marketing double major with a triple minor in digital media and journalism, leadership, and global diversity and social justice.
Matthew Klosky is an assistant professor of business at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. He earned a B.S. in computer science and sociology from Frostburg State University and an M.A. in sociology from the University of North Dakota.
