Gustavo Ramirez Barba, FSC, Ed.D.

ABSTRACT

In this adaptation of his Academic Convocation address delivered at Saint Mary’s College, Moraga, California, April 25, 2012, the author outlines implications of several trends, some specific to Latin America and others internal to the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. From a perspective at once informed and fresh, Brother Gustavo describes several pedagogical and structural innovations that manifest dynamic interactions between regional sociopolitical realities and the transformational movement of association for mission within the Institute, allowing the Lasallian university system to serve as a beacon of hope in the region.
