In “Lasallian Research Seminar on Catechesis and Evangelization,” Brother Ernest Miller, FSC, situates catechesis at the core of the Lasallian mission while addressing its contemporary fragmentation and decline. The seminar emerges as a dialogical and global initiative to renew catechetical praxis through theological grounding, ecclesial guidance, and contextual responsiveness. Engaging challenges such as pluralism, secularization, and shifting religious identities, participants advocate a kerygmatic, missionary approach that integrates faith formation with justice and lived experience. Ultimately, the seminar reaffirms the Lasallian vocation to “teach and touch hearts,” calling educators to intentional, transformative practice that unites evangelization, human development, and communal faith witness.

About the Author
Brother Ernest J. Miller, FSC, D.Min., serves as the founding director of the District of Eastern North America’s Adrien Nyel Project, a ministry designed to animate the vocation for teaching within the Lasallian charism. Prior to taking on that role in September 2022, he served as vice president of mission, diversity and inclusion at La Salle University in Philadelphia. He has previously served in other District leadership roles and as a teacher at several Lasallian secondary schools. Brother Ernest has presented at numerous conferences, workshops and retreats on Lasallian historical and educational themes, the Catholic social tradition, human rights and religious brotherhood, among others.
