Abstract

Saint Mary’s College, embracing its Catholic, Lasallian, Liberal Arts traditions, celebrates the spirit of community amid challenging times. William Mann, FSC, highlights three aspects of community: solidarity, where education and mutual support thrive; blessed memory, drawing on historical and present-day examples to inspire collective purpose; and as a precious gem, emphasizing the need for unity and charity. Three core practices—presence, fraternity, and interiority—are crucial for maintaining Lasallian identity. The address concludes with a hopeful message for the College to continue fostering a loving, distinct, and relevant community.
