Brother William Mann, FSC
Abstract
While providing a brief chronicle of forty-six General Chapters of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, the author attempts to answer recent questions about the timing of the first 46 General Chapters, to provide a brief chronicle or précis of the Institute’s General Chapters, and to furnish by way of endnotes some English-language resources about this aspect of the Institute’s history.

Brother William Mann, FSC, is president emeritus of Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, a former vicar general of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools (2000-2007), and the immediate past president of the International Association of La Salle Universities (IALU). Brother William, who earned his doctorate at Colgate Rochester Divinity School, was a capitulant at the 42nd, 43rd, 44th, and 45th General Chapters.
