ABSTRACT
These remarks were prepared on the occasion of the beatification of Brother James Miller in Guatemala. It is personal account of the final days leading up to the martyrdom of Brother James as told by one of the Brothers with whom he was living and working at the time of his tragic death.

Brother Paul Joslin, who presently resides at La Salle University in Pennsylvania, earned his Masters’ degrees in Spanish literature and education administration from Millersville State University in Pennsylvania and Saint Peter’s University in Jersey City, NJ. Prior to retiring, he taught at Lewis University in Illinois, taught in several secondary schools on the East Coast of the USA, and spent twelve years in administration and teaching in Guatemala.
