ABSTRACT

First, this paper will propose a methodology for the discernment the group gathered will me making together. Second, the paper will investigate the concept of charism and how to find it in the District of the Midwest. Third, the paper will locate the District in the international context of the Lasallian movement. Finally, the paper will look at some rules of engagement to guide the work of the group gathered in the coming days.

Brother Timothy Coldwell, FSC

Brother Timothy Coldwell, FSC, was elected as General Councilor for the Lasallian Region of North America (RELAN) at the 45th General Chapter in 2014. As a member of the General Council, Brother Tim spends a significant amount of time at the Generalate in Rome and visiting Lasallian ministries worldwide. In RELAN, Brother Tim provides service and leadership to the four Districts of RELAN. For the seven years prior to his election as General Councilor, he served as Visitor of the former District of New Orleans-Santa Fe. Brother Tim is a presenter at the Buttimer Institute of Lasallian Studies and a variety of other Lasallian formation programs. Brother Tim has long been associated with the Lasallian mission, beginning with his days as a student at Archbishop Rummel High School in Metairie, Louisiana.
