Rebecca A. Proehl, Ph.D.


Using the example of a research project with the Catalyst Schools, the author explores how early values clarification experiences formed the foundation of present-day experiences as a Lasallian researcher. Intersections among several dimensions of identity – educator, researcher, and social justice advocate – are described as transformative resources in developing professional practice and in sustaining continuing scholarly engagement in educational research. Rebecca A. Proehl, Ph.D. chairs the Leadership Department and is Professor in the Doctorate in Educational Leadership Program, Kalmanovitz School of Education, Saint Mary’s College of California. She was recognized as 2012 – 2013 Professor of the Year at Saint Mary’s College. Dr. Proehl was awarded the Ph.D. in Psychosocial Development and Education from The Wright Institute. She also completed the M.S.W. (Virginia Commonwealth University) and the B.A. in sociology (High Point University).
