ABSTRACT

In the mid-1990s, Brother Gerard Rummery led the staff and faculty of La Salle University (Philadelphia, PA, USA) through a series of encounters with Lasallian history, much as he does in higher education ministries throughout the world. Presented here is a template of his exercise, through which participants encounter key aspects of the Founder’s reality, presented in stories of crises transcended and invitations answered. Among American Lasallian higher education ministries, Brother Gerard encourages us to find in the person, the life and the spirituality of Saint John Baptist de La Salle a model that in all times encourages us to remain focused upon the sacred nature of our students, colleagues and mission.
